Just a quick note to the hunters : population is looking good this year. The kids and i go spotting about 3-5 times per week and right about dusk there movin. I havn't noticed the bucks movin as much as the doe, being this time of year its hard to tell the population growth but it does however appear that the buck population is down from last year. Not seeing much activity deep in the National but However, the farm area's are looking pretty darm good wich may mean that food and nutrients are getting a little scarce in the forest area do to the lack of rain. For the most part it doesnt appear they have much fat on them at all so it may be to early to tell but usualy they start putting on some fat about this time of the year due to the cold Canadian winds that roar in around October but with the climate change that has occured from the shhifting of the earth on is axis it may be another mild winter this year. I will try to keep you posted on the weather out take and the looks of the national.

So far i have noticed that Lake Mitchell is good becouse it hasnt been fished that much lately and the water sports have been mostly on Lake Cadillac. If your going to fish Mitchell i found it best to use a boat, fishing from the shower under cast & reel technique hasnt been that inviting (no luck). Lake cadillac has been good for bass and pike and if you realy know what you are doing you may haul in some walleye. The manistee river has been good for trout and small walleye this year but has been slowing down quite a bit from Hodenpyle dam to the East. Tippy damb is still running hot as always tho its rumored i havnt been there since may myself. Hope this info helps.

Lake Mitchell did have more millfoil last year then in previous years. Large area's in the middle of the lake that you needed to navigate around. Still, the lake was very useable.

I'm looking at possibly purchasing a cottage on Mitchell. How bad is the milfoil situation? I have looked at the Lake Mitchell Improvement website. Maybe it sounds worse than it is.

I'll be coming to Cadillac in mid-September. What fish are biting from off-shore fishing at that time?

Thanks for reply.

I was wondering if you have ice yet? I see the Cadillac lake crappie tournament has been rescheduled to Feb 3rd.
Let us know if there is still open water A few of us might come up and pre fish in our boats. Are there any public Concrete landings on lake Cadillac that are open??
Thanks for any information you can supply? Keep us posted!
Thanks
Rocky Martin
